Message From Rev. David Little
Associational Missionary for Lakelands Baptist Association

Lakelands Baptist Association’s inaugural HarvestFest was a huge success for which all who had any part in it are quick to give God the credit. It was an event far greater than one person or even a few people, not even a church or a couple of churches, could have successfully pulled off. But many churches working cooperatively together through the efforts of the Lakelands Baptist Association, Connie Maxwell Children’s Home and the Lakelands Chapter of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) were able to host the areas largest outdoor Christian youth event in anyone’s memory. Among the highlights were the appearance of the Christian contemporary bands, Overflow, Awkward Romance and Soulstice, youth evangelist Steven Furtick, and a food court that premiered eight different entrees, including; barbecue pork, chicken fajitas, hamburgers, hot dogs, sausage dogs, pizza, tacos and Chick Filet. With the financial sponsorship of the 48 churches of the Lakelands Baptist Association, various individuals, and several area businesses, the event was totally free, including food, concert and speaker. HarvestFest’s attendance numbered over 1300 and there were seven salvation decisions recorded. Church participation included 36 churches from the Lakelands Baptist Association and 39 from outside the association. Plans are already underway for HarvestFest ‘07 which will hopefully attract even more youth in the Upstate to this beautiful farm setting in order to connect them with an even more beautiful Savior.
